- Pros: Compact, lightweight, priced right, mic jack.
- Cons: No .avi, no firewire, no lens adaptability, no viewfinder, no separate battery charger, hokey third party software.
- The Bottom Line: I am very disappointed. For my application, all I need are .avi files. Even all the old cameras are capable of this very clean and common file format. Thought I would save time not needing to capture video anymore, but now it takes even more time than in the past. I will have to go back to tape or a different brand. Cheesy software is included with no file conversion capabilities.

- Pros: compact size, electronic lens cover
- Cons: menus could be easier to navigate, supplied software is functional but not great
- The Bottom Line: We bought this compact camcorder to replace our Sony Digital 8 camcorder. We did not use the Sony as much as we thought we would. In hindsight I think it was because it was too big for us to pack around easily. That problem was definitely solved with the FS100. It is about the size of a can of soda. For our purposes (recording family video) this is a great camcorder. We are pleased with the video quality and also with the zoom. The overall quality and feel of the FS100 is much better than other memory card camcorders we tried.

- Pros: Compact. Record on an SD card. Great video quality. Price.
- Cons: Software needs improvement.
- The Bottom Line: This is a great compact camcorder. It is very light, but it fits nicely in my palm. It starts up quickly in a few seconds. Video is recorded on an SD(HC) card. Each scene of the videos are recorded as separate files. It is easy to transfer video files to a computer using the included software, and it is easy to burn a DVD by selecting scenes that you want. However, the software needs improvement. On my Win XP PC, the software does not play back downloaded videos. At the highest quality, video quality is actually great. It records one hour of video at the highest quality on a 4 GB card. FS100 does not have internal storage memory. However, the price of SDHC cards are getting low, so I thought FS100 is a great choice. So far, I really like this camcorder.

- Pros: Light weight, Great Zoom, Solid Body
- Cons: Not the best quality of movies even at highest setting
- The Bottom Line: Overall the camera is a good unit with an exceptional zoom. I was very impressed with the zoom quality. I bought this as a replacement to my previous miniDV tape camcorder that its tape eject bottom quit working. We simply use it to record family moments so I'm not doing any kind of professional video recording. The video files are saved as .mod file.No program on my XP computer can view them. I had read that you can rename them to .avi or .mpg which i did and was able to play them in windows media player. But the quality of video was bad. I have a Canon SD850 camera and the quality of movies were the same.
